a few childood memories

Some of my happiest memories of childhood and teenage years include Jen. The stuff we did together will remain with me always. There were bike rides, paddling in the river and hunting for bullyheads. I remember one day she caught 32 and i caught 11! We would spend hours in various parts of the river and we once built a raft which never floated and we all got soaked. There were local discos, endless trips to Cheltenham for clothes and we would also go to London on the train shopping. We thought we were very grown up. We had camping trips with the Brownies and the Girl Guides, which we absolutely loved. We were also in the Rangers and we had a fab trip to Switzerland and camped at Adelboden, where the Girl Guide chalet is. School trip to Italy and a field trip to Flatford Mill were also great fun. It was fab. Our endless trips to Cheltenham would always involve buying clothes or putting a deposit on them (you could do that then) or buying patterns and material from Gordon Thoday's to make a dress! We would also have coffee in the Cadena. Once, we were rushing across from Woolworths to the Cadena and Jen fell over exposing her stockings and suspenders! We laughed till we cried, but it must have hurt. Her 50th birthday in New York was amazing. The celebratory dinner at the top of the Ritz Carlton is a memory I will cherish. Jen was great fun, very popular, the boys loved her! She was absolutely fabulous. I will miss her. Rest in peace Jen x
